Boost your confidence and ability to teach yoga safely and effectively to the fastest growing sector of the population--adults age 65 and older.  Created in collaboration with top medical experts, and offered since 2007 at Duke Integrative Medicine, the Integrative Yoga for Seniors teacher training is designed to help yoga teachers make the practice appropriate and enjoyable for older bodies, minds and spirits.   Co-directors Kimberly Carson, MPH, C-IAYT, E-RYT and Carol Krucoff, C-IAYT, E-RYT have decades of experience teaching yoga in medical settings, and this has informed their unique Integrative Medicine approach, which combines the best of current, evidence-based medicine with the ancient wisdom, experience and tradition of Yogic teachings.   You will learn about health conditions common to older adults—including heart disease, osteoporosis, arthritis and chronic pain—and how to appropriately adapt postures.  The Master Training is 50 hours and is offered at Duke Integrative Medicine.  Several abridged trainings--about 24 hours--are held in various locations including the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health.   Carson & Krucoff are authors of the book, "Relax into Yoga for Seniors:  A Six-Week Program for Strength, Balance, Flexibility, and Pain Relief."
