Sri K. Pattabhi Jois (1915-2009) is the founder of Ashtanga Yoga. Ashtanga Yoga means "eight-limbed yoga" outlined in the Yoga Sutras written by the great sage Patanjali.This style of yoga is the inspiration for the majority of vinyasa style yoga classes around the world. Ashtanga is a vigorous athletic flowing practice. The practice produces intense internal heat that creates a strong body and a calm mind. Tradtionally it was taught Mysore style, meaning the student learned the series and practiced the sequence on their own. However, today students can take classes lead by a teacher. The practice is smooth and flowing allowing the practitioner to simply observe what arises in the mind/body with out analyzing or criticizing it. With continued practice the skill of non-attachment is applied to all aspects of a person’s life. This method of yoga involves synchronizing the breath with a set series of poses. The eight limbs of yoga are: Yama [moral codes], Niyama [self-purification and study], Asana [posture], Pranayama [breath control], Pratyahara [sense control], Dharana [concentration], Dhyana [meditation], and Samadhi [contemplation].

In the summer of 2017, I decided to take the plunge and finally get my 200-hr Yoga Teacher Training. Working with Helen Cloots of the Floating Yoga School, I've completed that aspect of my training and am prepared to teach Vinyasa, Modified Ashtanga, and  gentle Hatha yoga. I live in Glenmoore, PA with my husband, cat, and dog. We're renting a 225 year old farm house that had gone wild for a few years before the landlords renovated it. Behind the house are tangled acres of berry bushes, fox dens, and deer trails.

After I discovered my own love for yoga through a series of self taught practices, I began working towards becoming a registered yoga teacher. I am certified in hatha/ vinyasa yoga and chair yoga. I teach a multiple classes with varying degrees of intensity. From the absolute beginner to the intermediate student looking is sharpen their practice, I will help you through your journey.
