Hatha Yoga, or Hatha Vidya, was established by Yogi Swatmarama. Not only was Swatmarama an intellectual of 15th century yoga, but also put together the Hatha Yoga Pradipika. In this work, Swatmarama discusses Hatha Yoga as a starting point for physical purification of the body, which ultimately leads to higher meditation. Most people in the west associate yoga with hatha and hatha yoga can provide mental and physical health benefits to those who practice it.

Laura has been practicing yoga since 2004, and earned her 200-hour vinyasa yoga and meditation instructor certification in 2010 from the Long Island Yoga School. She is currently working towards her 300-hour certification through Absolute Yoga in Woodbury, NY. Laura teaches in several locations on Long Island, and offers in-home sessions as well. She is also a registered dietitian and loves to provide group nutrition education workshops in her community, as well as corporate wellness programs for organizations in the tri-state area.

Deeply supportive and intuitive, she meets her students wherever they are to create a practice that is empowering, challenging and yet accessible to all levels.
After 20 years as a high school teacher and school administrator, I retired to help others find the 'peace within.' I am a 200 hour RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher) registered with Yoga Alliance. I currently teach group yoga classes in a local yoga studio in the Chicago suburbs, work with private clients, and school athletic teams to incorporate yoga into their training and conditioning.
In 1998, I took my first yoga class and began teaching asana classes in 2002. I study and practice Hatha Yoga in the tradition of H. H. YogiRaj Swami Bua Ji of India, under the generous tutelage of his protege, Patricia D'Angelo. I am an initiate of the Himalayan Institute of Yoga Science and Philosophy, where I received my teaching certification and draw on their expertise in pranayama and meditation. I am also certified to teach Lakshmi Voelker Chair Yoga, which allows me to share the benefits of yoga with everyone, regardless of age or mobility.
