Welcome to the Yoga Journal Iyengar Yoga Diretory page. In this section you will find yoga studios, retreat centers, and teachers who specialize or incorporate Iyengar Yoga into their practice and philosophy.

Iyengar Yoga was created by B. K. S. Iyengar and is based on the eight limbs of yoga as explained by Patanjali in his Yoga Sutras. Iyengar a form of hatha yoga, emphasizes the development of strength, stamina, flexibility and balance. This style of yoga is great for beginners because a primary focus is on alignment and the structure of the posture. In addition, advanced practioners may focus may be on discovering the most advance level of a pose and inner states of the mind. Iyengar yoga aims to unite the mind, body and spirit to promote health and well-being. A typical class moves at a slower pace with precise attention to the posture. Poses are often modified with props and a lot of adjustments given by the teacher. Iyengar teachers complete a minimum of two years of rigorous training in order to receive just the introductory certificate. A senior levels teacher will have potentially many more years of training.

Our Iyengar-certified teachers offer day, weekend and evening classes in yoga and meditation. We have workshops, yoga vacations, local retreats and more. Yoga Alliance registered, our studio is 20 years old. The "Real Deal" says Baltimore Magazine.

International Yoga Trip
Yoga And Hiking in the Swiss Alps- One week of yoga in Bern, Switzerland with hiking in the Bernese Oberland (Alps). Studio yoga everyday, as well as cultural events and shopping in the arcaded streets of the 11th century capital. Day trips are optional.

In this comprehensive, Yoga Alliance Approved, 200 hour program we will use the chakra system to explore 36 yoga poses, pranayama, philosophy, holistic lifestyle, and meditation. Whether your desire is to deepen your private practice or teach others, this program will enrich your knowledge of the entirety of hatha yoga. Taught by instructors with decades of experience and extensive education, this program will give the student a strong foundation in western and eastern anatomy, physiology, and philosophy.

In order to return to our true self the work that needs to be done can be very emotional and intense.  We develop many unhealthy habits with time and experience a growing separation from who we are and how we live our lives. To transform and become healthier and happier beings, a devotion to both acceptance and change are key, as well constant and full hearted practice on a chosen spiritual path.
