Power yoga is a basic term used in the West to describe a fitness-based vigorous approach to vinyasa-style yoga. This type of yoga is a rigorous full-body workout that promotes mental stability and concentration. Most power yoga is closely modeled on the Ashtanga style of practice. The term "power yoga" came into common usage in the mid 1990s, when several yoga teachers were looking for a way to make Ashtanga yoga more accessible to western students. Unlike Ashtanga, power yoga does not follow a set series of poses. Power yoga classes can vary widely from teacher to teacher. However, power yoga will most likely appeal to people who are already quite fit, enjoy exercising, and want a minimal amount of chanting and meditation with their yoga.

Samdhaana Yoga Teacher Training is an integrative study of yoga philosophy, anatomy and anatomical movement, sequencing of the Asana practice, and the dynamics of teaching. Samdhaana trainees gain the knowledge of creative sequencing and rotational movement on the mat. It can be taught in multiple formats, beginner, alignment-based, or vinyasa.

After enjoying the intensity of power yoga, I was able to appreciate the wonderful benefits of a calmer yoga practice. Now, my passion lies in Buti Yoga, a blend of power yoga, tribal dance and plyometrics. I wake up craving movement and love starting my day off in a way that brings me alive. It inspires me to show every woman that, above all, self love is the most important gift you can give yourself.
I am a RYT who has received my 200+ hours training and certificate. I am a Zumba teacher holding my B1, B2, and Strong by Zumba certifications. I also hold a Mat Pilates certification and teach group fitness. As a life-long dancer, I have been educated in all styles of dance and currently am able to teach: Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Lyrical, Modern, and Belly Dancing.
Elizabeth fell in love with yoga in 2008 after realizing that yoga is as much about strength of mind as it is strength of body. She is focused on making yoga approachable and accessible to everyone, and incorporating aspects of health on and off the mat into her students' practice. She has dealt with a moderate case of whiplash and is therefore very mindful of spine and neck and back health to keep symptoms at bay with yoga. Specialties include beginner yoga with proper alignment and power yoga.

My yoga journey started many moons ago when my Mom suggested my sister and I take a class. I don't remember much about the class itself, but I do recall speaking enthusiastically about it afterward. I also remember the smell of the satsuma oil that was burned throughout the class, and the various intrigues of my teacher that day, who wore endless strings of beads around her neck and had glittery, bright eyes and really wild curly hair. Most strikingly, I felt calm.
E-RYT 200, CYT. I believe that yoga, just like life, is a journey. There are twists and turns, ups and downs but every experience teaches you something new. In my teaching I work to empower students to find their inner strength and listen to what their body is telling them. The true power of yoga comes in allowing yourself to surrender, open and explore...even when it is difficult and dark. Moving bravely and steadily through the dark will always bring you into the most vibrant and beautiful light!
In 2009--seven years after my cancer diagnosis and moments after yet another potentially embarrassing wardrobe malfunction duringa yoga class--I ditched my breast form at the studio, acknowledging that I had found my second home. I've used yoga to nurture myself as both a survivor and caregiver, discovering that a conscious practice is indeed for every body.
Julia Marie Lopez is a nationally recognized teacher and teacher trainer, bringing her skills as an instructor, teacher trainer and coach to cities across the US including Chicago, Austin, D.C. and Tampa. She uses her heart-filled message to empower those who wish to develop their own voice, take the deep dive into self-healing, and hone in on teaching and leadership skills.
Teaching yoga for over 18 years, Lyn was the first to bring Power Yoga to the area. While her personal practice began with Ashtanga and she still stays grounded in the foundational elements of that practice, Bryan Kest and Baron Baptiste have both been a guiding force behind her teaching. She is grateful to both for encouraging her to trust and listen to her own internal voice of wisdom. Eventually leading her to what she calls Buddhi Power Yoga, a “user-friendly” yoga guided by intuition and breath.
Meg is the proud owner of With Love Yoga, and fondly describes herself as not being your average Yogi, proudly stating that she is a meat eating, wine loving, God fearing, Yogi. With tattoos, gauged ears, a pixie cut, and her 4'11 stature, she most definitely does not fit the stereotypical, popularized image of a Yoga instructor. For Meg, Yoga started off as a purely physical workout, but over time she developed a deeper appreciation for the mental and spiritual aspects of her practice.
