Welcome to the Yoga Journal Restorative Yoga Directory page. In this section you will find yoga studios, retreat centers, and teachers who specialize or incorporate Restorative Yoga into their practice and philosophy.

Restorative yoga is devoted to helping a person drop into deep relaxation. A typical class will include four to six floor poses held passively. Restorative Yoga uses a lot of props such as bolsters, straps, blocks, eye pillows, and blankets to support the person in each pose. Comfort is key when actively relaxing. Savaasana is usually 20 minutes allowing the person to rest completely and deeply. Restorative yoga might best be described as a supported conscious relaxation practice. Restorative yoga offers many benefits that can help a person with many different ailments such as insomnia, asthma, migraines, and chronic pain. This type of yoga is incredibly healing and beneficial to all body types.

Our mission is to bring forth mindful guides who share yoga in its whole form, as a means of healing and maintaining the health of mind, body and spirit, and the cultivation of the soul.

Samdhaana Yoga Teacher Training is an integrative study of yoga philosophy, anatomy and anatomical movement, sequencing of the Asana practice, and the dynamics of teaching. Samdhaana trainees gain the knowledge of creative sequencing and rotational movement on the mat. It can be taught in multiple formats, beginner, alignment-based, or vinyasa.

Fall in Love with Yoga and Hawaii during one of our 25 Day Immersion Training on Hawaii's Big Island. Our 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Trainings take place in a fun and creative environment where you will have the time and space to dive deeper into your practice and learn to spread your Love of Yoga. Peak Beings Yoga is a Registered Yoga School with Yoga Alliance and all graduating teachers will be qualified to register with the Yoga Alliance as a Registered Yoga Teacher.  We also offer this same training in Mexico and Brazil.

Our popular 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training Intensive will be held again this June at the Four Seasons Resort in Westlake Village, California (just northwest of Los Angeles).  Our program is inspired by the teachings of T. Our 250-hour program encourages a beautiful balance between the self-discovery of exploring your body and self through personal practice, and the outward expression of explaining yoga postures and philosophy to others.

The Yoga Alliance-registered, 200-hour blue lotus teacher training intensive is a journey of self-study and practice. The program sessions are held one weekend per month, September through May.  As you cultivate inner awareness, you will perhaps come to see that only by living in the heart can we truly thrive.

Vineyard Arts Project is an arts and wellness retreat space located on the beautiful island of Martha's Vineyard. The center features two incredible 2,000 square foot yoga studios with high lofted barn ceilings and sprung floors. The center has a total of 23 luxurious bedrooms with private en-suite baths, communal dining and living rooms, a spacious kitchen, and expansive sun deck and yard. Available to rent for week-long yoga, fitness, and wellness retreats from May - October each year. 

Alisa Cubic first discovered yoga on PBS Chicago TV every day after elementary school. The teacher looked so peaceful, yet strong. She wanted to be just like her. She dove into the spirituality of it all, and it continued through to her adult life. Life happened though and she found herself separated from yoga asanas until a romantic winter reunion happened in 2013 at Yoga By Degrees. Alisa decided it was time to get serious about, not just her mind and spirit, but her body as well. What better way than to get certified to teach yoga? The yoga community provided her with the space to get to know herself deeper than she ever dreamt possible, all while allowing her to be her. Alisa hopes to bring this same safe haven to her vinyasa and restorative classes: love, kindness, joy and acceptance. Alisa is 200 hour certified in yoga since 2014 & has since then received further certification in Yoga Sculpt as of February 2016.

I have always been interested in healing. I came to yoga while working a rewarding but highly stressful job. I was also seeking an option for low impact fitness, since a serious lower body military injury chronically limited me in some activities. Through yoga, I found improved physical strength, flexibility, and balance. What surprised me was also finding an immense sense of calm, and healing in body, mind and spirit, whether through vigorous flow, gentle restorative yoga, or breath work. I felt benefits both on and off the mat.

I am a Ct based traveling yoga instructor.  I hold certifications as a Registered Children's Yoga Teacher (RCYT), completing a 95 hour training and I have completed my 200 hour training as well making me a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200).  I teach a wide variety of styles that can fit anyone's needs, from a gentle restorative class to an instead power session.  The voice is yours!!! Joshua Tree Meditation

Candie Crespo is an avid practitioner who is drawn to the core technique of the Krishnamacharya lineage (asana, bandha, pranayama, meditation) while being true to the other streams of influence that have deepened her experience of yoga. In 2011, she trained in the Hatha Tradition at the Yoga Vidya Gurukul Ashram and University in Nasik, India and then decided to continue her education with studies in Yoga Nidra and Kundalini.  In 2014, she became a certified Aerial Yoga Instructor through Art of Flying Aerial in Torrance and continued onto level 2 in 2016.
