Viniyoga Yoga Directory

Welcome to the Yoga Journal Viniyoga Directory page. In this section you will find yoga studios, retreat centers, and teachers who specialize or incorporate Viniyoga Yoga into their practice and philosophy.

Gary Kraftsow founded the American Viniyoga Institute in 1999. His main teacher for the past 30 years is T.K.V Disikachar. Viniyoga is a useful therapeutic tool for the body but aims to help facilitate self awareness to reduce internal suffering. Viniyoga is tailored to individual’s needs and physical condition. The classes can vary greatly in length and specific content. All Viniyoga classes emphasize mobilizing the spine and coordinating each movement with breath. The practice is relatively gentle and fluid. Viniyoga gives students access to begin the process of self-discovery and personal transformation.

I believe life is better with breath and movement. I can teach you the skills you need to achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle long-term. Whether that be through increasing your performance, helping you with weight loss, maximising your flexibility, or simply over all better fitness and health, I can help. I believe Yoga brings you warmth for your mind, body & heart.

This 200-hour program is offered over multiple weekends in the Los Angeles area beginning in late January. Inspired by the teachings of T. Krishnamacharya, an individualized approach to each student is at the heart of this training. During your time with us, you will learn how to teach or deepen your own practice in many different forms of hatha yoga. Rather than mold you into our style, we believe it is important to support you in discovering your own unique style and path in your yoga journey.
