Yoga for children is a gentle, non-competitive form of exercise that promotes flexibility while teaching children relaxation. Yoga for children can help increase concentration and reduce agitation. It is not a performance oriented practice. Yoga teaches children how to feel connected with their bodies and minds. Yoga is very beneficial to all children. Children learn how to stretch their muscles and keep their bodies strong and flexible. Classes are 45 minutes, and tend to be playful and fun.
I have been practicing Yoga for 5 years and now wish to share the knowledge of self and Yoga I have collected with others. My classes are casual and a great place to start a practice or to grow your practice reaching for more advanced poses. I am an RYT 200, trained in CPR and First Aid in the event of any emergency. I have studied Yoga for Trauma, Chair and Chakra Yoga as I reach into the deeply personal healing work I feel called for. I am also a Local Church Lay Servant in the United Methodist Church.
Kathleen's first yoga instructor was her mother, who began teaching yoga when Kathleen was a teenager. Kathleen found yoga extremely helpful for her back pain related to scoliosis. She introduced it to many friends during college to reduce stress and dove deeper into her practice during a semester abroad in India. Take time to breathe, be present and live in the moment. Allow your breathe to guide you as you flow through a sequence of postures. Find your inner self, increase your strength and flexibility and learn to flow with your breath. Join in the journey, one breath at a time.
I meet students where they are in the moment and teach how to allow your breathe to guide you through a practice, whether it's a vigorous flow or meditative yin/restorative class. I believe breathe and movement combine together to make for a wonderful practice. I love the twists and turns of a yoga journey that remind you to breathe, be present and live in the moment.
